Switching Banks is as easy as 1-2-3
Step 1 : Open your new checking account:
Please bring the following information with you to open your new checking account:
- Valid driver’s license, passport, military ID,or other state-issued photo identification
- Social Security Card
Step 2 : Redirect your automatic payments/transfers and direct deposits to your new account:
We have provided forms that you can copy and send to the institutions and companies that currently debit and credit your old account.
If you need to switch your current Social Security payments, do not send a letter. Changes may be made by calling the Social Security Administration at 1.800.772.1213.
If you receive other Federal benefit payments, please visit www.godirect.gov for the agency’s contact information. If you would like to set up a new Social Security payment, you may do so by visiting www.godirect.gov as well.
Step 3 : Close your old accounts:
Make sure that all of your automatic transactions have been switched and all of your outstanding checks have cleared. We have provided a form to notify your old financial institution to close your account or accounts.
If you have any questions during this switch, please call or visit one of our banking centers and we will be happy to help you through the process!
